Keanu Reeves was spotted stocking up on facial products at Fred Segal today. Poor guy can’t even head to the store and buy some face wash without getting photographed!
There are business dinners and then there are Keanu Reeves business dinners.
The Matrix star showed that he’s not all save-the-world intense during an unorthodox work discussion at a nearly empty Hollywood restaurant on Saturday. He took much of the Thai-cuisine dinner relaxing on his back in a secluded booth. Fellow diners at Talesai were surprised to see the action star make it out on a night when much of that Sunset Blvd section was shut due to a movie production. There were not many folks to be seen. But a "thin Keanu, fully bearded, wearing a tweed blazer with hiking boots" surprised a small group of patrons when he entered the joint with a female companion, according to one diner. "They took the corner table by the wine cellar and he laid down on the booth like for a nap," says the diner. "The other woman stayed seated, and they would talk business casually. It was all very chill. Very Zen-like."
Odd and fantastic! Maybe this is a Thai custom we have not heard about until now. Keanu did rise from the Thai Mellow Position to share a bottle of wine and a couple of plates of food — and to even talk some more business. But mostly he just chilled out for what seemed like hours. He was still there when our spy left. "He was so comfy that he seemed to really be making himself at home," says the diner.

Reeves will get behind the wheel of a race car to compete in the 35th annual Toyota Grand Prix of Long Beach’s Toyota Pro/Celebrity Race. The 10-lap race for charity will be held on a closed 1.97-mile street circuit in downtown Long Beach, Calif., on April 18. Other celebrity racers include Luke Wilson, Adrien Brody, Tim Daly, Raven-Symone, Jon Hamm, Tyson Beckford, Alex Trebek, Eric Close, Mary Lynn Rajskub and professional skateboarder Danny Way. Les Unger, Toyota’s national motorsports manager, says the race is a "win-win" for everyone because it gives fans a chance to see their favorite performers while offering celebrities an opportunity to give back to children in need.

Le gagnant remportera 15 000 dollars (environ 11 700 euros) pour l’oeuvre caritative de son choix.

Critique : « The Private Lives of Pippa Lee » est le film d’une actrice, Robin Wright Penn qui joue avec une grâce hantée et pas mal d’humour la Pippa du titre. Avec une légèreté apparente, le récit fait des allers et retours entre le présent et le passé d’une mère de famille qui vit sa vie en somnambule au sens propre comme au sens figuré. À peine arrivée dans sa nouvelle maison très chic avec son vieux mari en sursis médical, la parfaite Pippa commence à doucement perdre les pédales. Elle se remet à fumer, dévalise le frigo, conduit endormie au milieu de la nuit et tombe amoureuse du fils des voisins, un trentenaire tatoué et divorcé qui revit une seconde crise (carabinée) d’adolescence et vend des cigarettes à l’épicerie du coin.
La vie de Pippa défile aussi à l’envers à travers ses souvenirs : une mère accro aux amphétamines, sa fugue d’adolescence, puis ses errances de jeune hédoniste triste. Blake Lively, nouvelle « it girl » grâce à la série télévisée « Gossip Girl », joue cette Pippa Lee ado rebelle et surtout paumée avec beaucoup de sincérité. Malgré le faible niveau de cette série très superficielle, il est difficile d’ignorer ce que Blake Lively y cultive, son point fort d’actrice : un regard étonnamment chargé, expressif. Keanu Reeves joue lui aussi dans cette comédie mélancolique, une cerise sur le gâteau ! Dans le rôle d’un homme très en colère contre le monde et contre son destin, il apparaît dans sa première scène, torse nu avec un tatouage géant de Jésus sur le poitrail. Tout un programme…
C’est une des forces de Rebecca Miller. Avec beaucoup d’esprit et d’ironie, elle fait rire avec le drame et parle avec acuité cette « dépression l’air de rien », un mal rampant qui décrit on ne peut mieux notre époque. Les frontières se brouillent et la réalisatrice teinte son espoir de noir. Comme dans sa « Ballade de Jack et Rose », le nouveau départ ne peut avoir lieu qu’après la mort de l’être aimé, devenu obsolète. Le choix du « bonheur » de Pippa est aussi trop conscient pour être honnête… Comédie tragique ou tragédie comique, cette histoire est moins frivole qu’il n’y paraît et laisse un beau souvenir, une vraie impression de liberté. C’est déjà beaucoup.

The movie tells the story of Pippa Lee, a housewife in her fifties. She is married to Herb, three decades her senior. He suddenly announces that he wants to move to a retirement community, and Pippa finds her life changing in ways she can’t control. We are taken into Pippa’s life as a child and teenager, then into young adulthood.

It won’t star Keanu Reeves or Patrick Swayze or be remotely related to the original… but a Point Break sequel is still in the works!
According to Moviehole, here’s what fans can expect to see in the follow-up to the 1991 classic:
In the film, Dali and his team wear masks of "The Bush Administration" (George Bush, Colin Powell, Dick Cheney, etc.) as they strip boats for loot. Dali’s sister, Teela, ends up falling in love with Billy Dalton, an undercover Fed working in Dali’s gang, which complicates matters.
Le Point Break de Kathryn Bigelow atteindra bientôt la majorité, 18 ans, et une suite intitulée Point Break Indo. Parce que l’action se déroulera en Indonésie. Personne n’a oublié les deux surfeurs agents du FBI incarnés par rien de moins que Keanu Reeves et le fameux Patrick Swayze. Certes, après 18 ans, on n’attendait plus tellement cette suite, c’est pourtant le temps qu’elle a mis pour naître comme projet.
Certains crieront : "Pas de Point Break 2 sans nos deux surfeurs préférés !". Malheureusement, cela ne semble pas à l’ordre du jour, d’autant que Swayze est loin d’être au meilleur de sa forme, atteint par un cancer. Nous ne savons toujours pas qui viendra pendre la place des héros dans l’intrigue mais nous connaissons l’identité du méchant. Il s’agit d’un garçon dont on a peu entendu parler mais qui a déjà fait ses armes dans pas mal de films et de séries US. Il s’agit de Damien Walshe-Howling que vous avez peut-être aperçu dans la série Underbelly ou avant dans Nos vies secrètes.
En plus du méchant, nous avons des infos sur l’intrigue. Quand Billy Haldon, un collaborateur spécial de l’armée et star du surf, est disqualifié d’un tournoi de professionnel, il part pour Bali à la recherche de la vague parfaite. Alors qu’il est là-bas, il est recruté par une organisation de sécurité privée qui poursuit un gang nommé "L’administration Bush", des surfeurs hors-la-loi et pirates des temps modernes semblables au The Ex-Presidents du premier film. Comme leurs prédécesseurs, les méchants porteront des masques, ceux de George Bush, Colin Powell etc…
Oui, l’intrigue est assez semblable au premier film et compte pas mal sur l’attractivité du milieu du surf. Jan de Bont a de la chance, depuis cet été et The Dark Knight, les bandits affublés de masque ont pris une classe certaine. L’analogie est très forte et on adorerait qu’elle soit justifiée. Mais on doute de pouvoir faire autant confiance au réalisateur de Speed et Tomb Raider – Le Berceau de la vie…
