Merry Christmas

Merry Christmas to Keanu and all his Fans !

David Fincher may be best known for dark, gritty films such as “Se7en,” “Fight Club,” and “Zodiac,” but the acclaimed auteur has actually been angling to direct a movie set in the culinary world for many years now, and may soon get a chance to bring his interest in cuisine to the big screen. Fincher, who was recently nominated for the Golden Globe for Best Director for “The Curious Case of Benjamin Button” and is the subject of some rather intense Oscar buzz, is currently developing a film called “Chef,” with Keanu Reeves set for a starring role. And now he’s talking about the mysterious project for the first time to MTV News.
Though Fincher was once attached to a script for a film called “Seared,” which was based upon superstar chef Anthony Bourdain’s best-selling memoir “Kitchen Confidential,” “Chef” is something new entirely. “‘Seared’ was a defunct property at New Line,” the director told MTV News. “They decided to go ahead and make ‘Kitchen Confidential’ as a [television] series. This is an original script that’s very funny.”
So what can we expect from “Chef”?
“It’s good and chewy,” says Fincher, using terminology that could just as well be applied to delicious meal. “It’s like a celibate sex comedy if that means anything.”
A celibate sex comedy? That sounds like the opposite of Bourdain’s book, which included quite a bit of sex along with its insight into the inner workings of top restaurants.
Ultimately, Fincher’s interest in exploring the culinary world comes down to his immense respect for the artistry and craft of top chefs.
“It’s really about the creative process,” the filmmaker explained. “It’s truly an aromatic art-form, making food. I love that idea. And I love Keanu’s passion for that world.”

On doit, non ?

“Oh yeah, cool,” he said when I asked him about the flick recently. “We’re trying to do that.”

As fans of the Japanese classic TV series know, “Bebop” follows a crew of bounty hunters traveling around the universe in the year 2071. Reeves hopes to play Spike Spiegel, one of these futuristic cowboys forced to pick up the slack after a population crash and hyperspace gateways have left law-enforcement unable to capture many of the galaxy’s most ruthless criminals.

“It’s got a Western quality, a Western film noir aspect to it,” Reeves said of why he’s such a big fan of Shinichiro Watanabe and Keiko Nobumoto’s groundbreaking series. “It’s got so much style to it, and that’s part of its appeal. That kind of Old West, bordertown, low-tech science fiction aspect.”

Take a look at this clip and you’ll get an idea of why Reeves is not only a perfect-looking fit for Spiegel, but also why he thinks the most important person on the set will be the one trying to translate the series’ unique look. “I think that would be a production designer’s dream,” Reeves said of the flick. “I think you just need a good production designer.”

TDTESS Promo in Tokyo

Wednesday 17th December, 04:01 PM JST

Keanu Reeves, 44, Jennifer Connelly, 38, and Jaden Smith, 10, meet the press in Tokyo on Wednesday during a promotion for their film, “The Day the Earth Stood Still.” The liveliest moments came from the precocious Smith, the son of Will and Jada Pinkett Smith, who said his parents had taught him to just be natural when acting and in the spotlight. Reeves and Connelly had to deal with questions such as what would they do if they met an alien, who would they tell if they learned the world was about to be destroyed and what would their last meal be. The film, a “reimagining” of the 1951 classic sci-fi film, opens in Japan on Saturday, only one week after its U.S. release.

Will we have this Constantine sequel one day ?  There is still hope when you read following article (see text in green here below). I have been waiting for that sequel for ages. I don’t care about a Speed 3 nor another Bill & Ted, but I really want a Constantine 2 so, Keanu, please go for it !  Com’on man, listen to your fans, we need you in a Constantine 2.

Despite negative reviews and the always-carping-at-Reeves stiffness, the sci-fi flick headlining the Toronto actor as alien Klaatu scored with teenagers and young adults in North America. The movie is expected to have a strong second weekend, too. Internationally, The Day The Earth Stood Still has already managed another $40 million and is expected to continue strongly. It cost under $100 million, so it should be a winner all round.

Back to Constantine 2. As Reeves mentioned in a recent interview, he’s up for it. But so far, his demands of $15-million plus big points have left the the sequel makers hesitant. The Day The Earth Stood Still box office should move along negotiations or maybe the project might be moved along to folks who have more faith in Reeves.

As it is, The Matrix man has some Constantine 2 leverage he didn’t have before after he had signed up for a series of artsy films that fizzled at the box office and faded from view over the last few years.

Meanwhile, two other former Reeves vehicles have had re-make talk, too. Surprisingly, the actor isn’t rejecting either possibility, although his return to a Speed picture is more likely than Reeves returning as the ‘whoa dude’ in another Bill & Ted adventure.

TOO FUNNY !

The Day The Earth Stood Still is #1 at the box office this weekend, no doubt thanks to Tabloid Baby pal, contributor and columnist Dr. Franklin Ruehl, Ph.D., who interviewed star Keanu Reeves for the infotainment show Extra! and was immortalized with a tweaking on E!’s the Soup.

KEANU REEVES’ sci-fi thriller THE DAY THE EARTH STOOD STILL has rocketed to the top of the U.S. box office chart, taking an impressive $31 million (GBP20 million) in its opening weekend.
Reeves’ performance as an alien who comes to earth – in a remake of the 1951 cult classic – helped the movie destroy any competition.
Reese Witherspoon and Vince Vaughn’s holiday comedy Four Christmases came in second with $13.3 million (GBP6.7 million).
Twilight finished third with $8 million (GBP5.3 million), taking it’s total to $150 million (GBP100 million).
Disney animation Bolt came in fourth with $7.5 million (GBP5 million), and epic Australia rounded out of the top five with $4.2 million (GBP2.8 million).
The Baz Luhrmann movie has taken a disappointing $38 million (GBP25 million) in three weeks of release.
Christmas movie Nothing Like the Holidays – starring Debra Messing and John Leguizamo – entered the box office chart in a disappointing seventh place, taking just $3.5 million (GBP2.3 million) over the weekend.
