Keanu sighting

Wednesday March 19th. Keanu Reeves at Locanda Veneta West 3rd dining with 3 women. One woman looked very similar to Parker Posey, perhaps it was? Very discreet, he sat facing away from entrance.

Emmanuel Itier: We heard that this was one of the more aggressive and darker characters that you were playing from David Ayer and that you took it really seriously. Can you talk about the attraction to this character–this sad alcoholic at the end? Is he a hero or a good guy?

Keanu Reeves: Tom Ludlow. Is he a good guy? Yeah, he’s a good guy. Good sense of humor. Just don’t get on his wrong side, I guess. It was a great role and I really liked the story, and I guess it was kind of fun. It was fun to be pushed to a place that I don’t normally live in. I guess David called me a hippie. The director’s calling me a hippie and I get to kill eight people, so that’s a good role to play.

EI: Did you tap into Johnny Utah from Point Break for this character at all? Because there were some similarities…

KR: Not that I was conscious of.

JM: I used a lot of Johnny Utah.

KR: You could tell, yeah.

JM: Yeah, you were the only one I let in on it.

EI: I know you’ve done a lot of weapons training, but what did you learn this time around?

KR: What did I learn? Practice, practice, practice. You have to practice. I needed a lot of practice. I wasn’t very good. I just wanted to be able to look like I knew what I was doing, and so I had the benefit of working with Rick Lopez, who’s here, and just practicing, learning great techniques, some footwork and entrances and different kinds of reloads–all that kind of stuff.

JM: Is it true that you’re going to be on Dancing With The Stars next year? Yes or no? Just say it now.

KR: No, but I really enjoyed the part. It was really fun.

NO Constantine 2

IESB spoke with Keanu Reeves on March 22nd at the Street Kings junket where he revealed that a second Constantine was probably not going to ever happen.
Just a few months back, director Francis Lawrence mentioned the possibility of a sequel but said that it all depended on a script. Reeves was decidedly less optimistic and said that despite planning it at one time, a second go-round as John Constantine wasn’t something he’d be interested in doing anymore.
The film, of course, was based on Vertigo comics longest running series, Hellblazer. With roughly 200 issues and still counting, there’s plenty of story to fuel a franchise. It sounds like it’s more an issue of not wanting to retread the same water. Reeves also mentioned that there are no characters left that he’s played that he has any desire to return to, killing all our hopes for middle-aged Bill and Ted.

Check back soon for the full-length video interview!

MTV: Is part of the appeal of "Street Kings" the opportunity to tap into the darker parts of your nature?

Keanu Reeves: Yes. It was a really interesting role and obviously a great stretch. The director called me a hippie and said, "We have to get rid of that guy." I really appreciated that opportunity.

MTV: It’s an extremely violent movie. What’s your own threshold for violence in film?

Reeves: I’m not really into the horror porn. I don’t find that entertaining personally. But on some levels, when violence is done to my liking, there’s a part of it that I like. I want it to have a reason. Violence for violence’s sake, I’m not really into it. I’m not on the Internet trying to find the next beheading. I have friends who do, and I’m not one of those people.

MTV: There are some great mano-a-mano scenes between you and Forest Whitaker and you and Hugh Laurie in this one.

Reeves: They’re thrilling. You’re working with a fellow artist and you’re pushing each other creatively and challenging and reaching for something. If it goes well, it’s really a good day, because it’s play. When my character and Forest’s face-off at the end of the movie, we’re both in each other’s faces talking about the truth and "Why did you do what you did?" Those are good scenes.

MTV: There’s a foot chase in this film that had me thinking back to "Point Break." Except in this one it’s Chris Evans doing the running and you’re in the car. So does that make you Gary Busey?

Reeves: Yes. I am. When we were shooting that sequence, I wasn’t the guy running anymore, I was the guy driving the car. The old veteran! It was nice. I got to be the old guy in the car and let the kid run. [Laughs.]

MTV: You’re no stranger to sci-fi, and you’ve just shot another big one, the remake of "The Day the Earth Stood Still." Why do you love the genre so much?

Reeves: Wow, big question. I really enjoy science-fiction. As a genre, it’s very flexible. It’s almost an über-genre. You can do science-fiction romance or drama or horror. It always carries something else with it.

MTV: The first "The Day the Earth Stood Still" was very much an allegory. Is there as much of a commentary in this one?

Reeves: Yeah. Absolutely. The first one was born out of the Cold War and nuclear détente. Klaatu [the protagonist in the film] came and was saying, "Cease and desist with your violence. If you can’t do it yourselves, we’re going to do it." That was the film of that day. The version I was just working on, instead of being man against man, it’s more about man against nature. My Klaatu says, "If the Earth dies, you die. If you die, the Earth survives. I’m a friend to the Earth."

MTV: Sounds like Al Gore will be a fan.

Reeves: Well, it’s trying to reach beyond the idea of environmentalism. It’s dealing with not just the consequences of what we’re doing, but who we are as a species.

MTV: Do you say the immortal words, "Klaatu barada nikto"?

Reeves: I do.

MTV: I assume Gort looks a bit different than the tin man of the original.

Reeves: Hey, man, don’t put that tin man down. That was iconoclastic. Except for "Metropolis," that might be the best [robot]. Yes, we have another version of the tin man.

MTV: Would you call it an action movie?

Reeves: It’s more of a propulsive drama with a road movie in there.

MTV: I have to ask you about "Bill & Ted." When was the last time you spoke to Alex Winter?

Reeves: We spoke on the phone the other day. We’re great friends.

MTV: Do you think we’ll ever see Ted Theodore Logan again?

Reeves: I hear they’re doing a remake! The most serious we ever got was a few years ago. I had once mentioned doing it when we were 40. Now maybe the only shot we have is to do it when we’re 50. I don’t know who’s going to remember by then. [Laughs.]

MTV: Where are the Wyld Stallions today?

Reeves: They’re in each and every one of us.

MTV: There was a lot of talk for a while that you were going to play Dr. Manhattan in the "Watchmen" film. Did you want to do it?

Reeves: Yeah, absolutely. It just didn’t work out.

MTV: So it was just scheduling, that kind of thing?

Reeves: Yeah, but they got [Billy] Crudup to play it, who’s fantastic.

MTV: There are a lot of people, myself included, who are just dying to see how that turns out.

Reeves: Man, I went to the set. They were shooting in Vancouver while we were filming, so I went over to the set to say hi. They showed me some stuff, and it looks amazing! I can’t wait. It’s going to be so killer, man!

MTV: Are your days of performing with bands like Dogstar and Becky behind you?

Reeves: Socially, I still jam, but I haven’t played in a rock club recently. I don’t know how that’s going to happen. I do miss it.

On Monday, March 17th 2008, Keanu Reeves took a lunch meeting at the Bergamont Cafe in Santa Monica’s Bergamont Arts Center.  Keanu appeared to be in good spirits (hoorah!) smiling and doing quite a bit of stretching.

It seems there was a lot more talking than eating going on.  Once the meeting was over, Keanu stood up and hoovered his sandwich before hopping on his motorcycle and cruising away.

The production company for “Pippa Lee” is expected to use Danbury as its home base for the next 90 days. "The Private Lives of Pippa Lee" stars Robin Wright Penn, Keanu Reeves, Winona Ryder, Monica Belluci, Maggie Gyllenhaal, Julianne Moore and Alan Arkin.
The movie is scheduled to be lensed in and around Danbury while using the former Immanuel Lutheran School on Foster Street as its production headquarters. The property is owned by the city.
Mayor Mark Boughton said that starting today, the production company will use the Foster Street building for offices and storage. Filming is scheduled to start in April, according to The Hollywood Reporter and the Connecticut Film Division’s Web site.
"The Private Lives of Pippa Lee" is written and directed by Rebecca Miller, a Roxbury resident and the daughter of the late playwright Arthur Miller…

Keanu Reeves was looking quite attractive as he arrived at LAX from Canada. He appeared to almost blush as everyone suddenly recognised the former Speed actor behind the flash bulbs. I think, like me, many were thinking thank god he decided to lose the long locks and the beard.

Producer and Cypress Hill member, DJ Muggs, has scored the upcoming David Ayer-directed movie, "Street Kings," which hits theaters in April.
… The main difference from scoring and making records is that in scoring the music can’t loop. You gotta build, take away and add changes constantly as each frame changes," explained Muggs of the film scoring process. "The other difference is that when I make music, I only have to answer to me. This time I had the director and the producers and the studio Fox Searchlight. You have to make sure they get their vision across as well as the energy and emotion they want in the sound of their film. I’m here for that purpose." …

For the Belgian fans who don’t know who DJ MUGGS is:

Indie film princess Parker Posey and Keanu Reeves have been spotted cuddling up, and now rumors are swirling that their Chateau Marmont rendez-vous is the beginning of something serious. The odd couple shared a seat at the swanky hotel last week and sat “very, very close,” according to OK! magazine.

My 50 cents on this: I must be careful when I have my "one on one" meetings with my Manager because we generally sit close to each other.  If sitting close to a man means you are dating him, rumours that I am dating my boss might be running soon in the office. LOL
Keanu, could you please sit down close to me just for 1 hour, I had a dream …

Hollywood star SHIA LaBEOUF credits KEANU REEVES and Will Smith with teaching him how to deal with the high-pressure workload which comes with spearheading a movie. LaBeouf has heavily criticised his performances alongside Smith and Reeves – in 2004′s I, Robot and 2005′s Constantine, respectively – and admits he made a huge mistake signing up for the supporting roles. However, LaBeouf has no regrets – because his A-list co-stars have helped to prepare him for life as the "number one" on set. He tells Britain’s Empire magazine, "I’m not that proud of those performances, by any means. When I look back on things I’ve done, those seem like mistakes. But they were correct choices at the time. "I got to watch Will Smith and Keanu Reeves carry movies on their backs. It was a huge learning curve, on discovering how to deal with being that guy on set. There’s a lot more that comes with being number one on the call-sheet than promoting the film and acting in it. "I studied how those guys handled the crew, how they turned up on set, the way they never got sick."
