He comes through Jacksonville every couple of years. In 2005, he hosted a Super Bowl party (and unlike some advertised hosts, he actually showed up and hosted). Tonight, he’s onstage at the Times-Union Center for the Performing Arts doing his stand-up comedy.
He’s been in documentaries, movies, animated films and TV shows. The past few years, he’s gotten into producing movies. He recently signed on to star in a new cop movie The Night Watch, with Forest Whitaker and Keanu Reeves.
Q: When do you film Night Watch?
That’s going to happen in early July. It’s a little more of a dramatic role. I play a street informant. According the director, he wants a straight drama, no comedy.
Q: Have you done much of that?
I’ve done pieces, but nothing that’s a full-drawn dramatic piece.
Q: Is it going to be hard?
For me, it’ll be a lot harder. My natural perspective is to see the comedy. It’s hard for me to see a scene and not see where the joke is. But as a father, a husband, dealing with mortgages, you get more serious.
