E! News Weekend just had the So True/So False segment and they said that KeFed joining as a cast member of Night Watch was So False.

BRITNEY SPEARS’ ex-husband KEVIN FEDERLINE is embarking on a movie career after landing a part in KEANU REEVES’ new film. The dancer/rapper will play a "small but notable" role in the thriller Night Watch, opposite Reeves and Oscar winner Forest Whitaker, according to In Touch Weekly magazine. It won’t be the 29-year-old’s first acting job – he appeared in an episode of TV drama CSI: Crime Scene Investigation, which aired in America last year (06).

Jury President Stephen Frears bestowed a 60th Anniversary Prize to Gus Van Sant for "Paranoid Park".

Gus Van Sant accepted this Anniversary Award and expressed his appreciation: "Thanks Stephen and thanks to the Jury and thanks to the family Karmitz for backing this film. It had very humble beginnings and for the short film as well.  Thanks to my producers. Of course thanks to Gilles Jacob and Thierry Frémaux for this Festival;  it’s been a really good one this year. Thanks to Chris Doyle and Rain Li for the cinematography and Blake Nelson for writing the original book that it’s from and all the others who helped make it. Thank you.”

… Joss began by sharing his thoughts about Keanu Reeves as an actor; sounds like an odd way to start but it was quite lovely. He explained how Keanu has mastered his own career by embodying a rare and authentic style all his own typified by a sense of compassion for humanity and a subtle detachment. He shared a story about when he was "fixing" the script for Speed and working with Keanu on the character, how Keanu had spent some time with detectives and law enforcement to get a sense of the character and he said he was struck by how polite they were. How they all used "sir" and "Ma’am." Joss was impressed by how Keanu objected to certain lines and actions in the script because they seemed outside of what the character would truly do. He explained how Keanu’s choices of roles has been indicative of his style and how he has kept his private life private. He described Keanu as having an international appeal both by his "pretty" and by his multi-ethnic aesthetic. Ultimately, Keanu is the perfect Neo…

Cedric the Entertainer is stepping up his Hollywood game to tackle a serious role in “Night Watch,” a cop drama to be directed and co-written by “Training Day” scribe, David Ayer.
Keanu Reeves stars in the film as a veteran LAPD cop who begins drinking after the death of his wife. Things get worse when he is framed by his former mentor, played by Forest Whitaker, in the murder of a fellow officer…

As we don’t have any news nor candids since May 19th, 2007, I decided to add some lovely pictures here, just to feed your addiction

HE WAS VAGUELY FAMILIAR… but because he looked tubby and out of shape, I wasn’t sure if it was who I thought it was. With a woman I took to be either his assistant or publicist, they were at the freezer section poring over ingredients on labels. I leaned over his shopping cart and asked him if he was starring at Whole Foods that day, or was he going to be doing a movie soon? Looking up at me was a fat-shiny faced Keanu Reeves. While the companion gave me a frosty look, Reeves on the other hand was friendly and eager to hear what I had to say about how to lose the 20 pounds. He seems to have packed it on with what he calls his problem, “the drink.” Having to shed the weight quickly for his next movie in which he plays an L.A. cop, I advised Reeves about diet and exercise, to which he replied, “It sounds depressing.” Then I mentioned the faux wines, which taste like the real thing, to which he replied again, “It sounds depressing.” With that I smiled, wished him the best and walked off. Even movie stars can’t hire anyone to workout for them and lead a wholesome lifestyle…

"Pirates of the Caribbean" actress Naomie Harris is the latest star to join "Night Watch"

… “I go on to do ‘Night Watch,’ with Keanu Reeves and Forest Whitaker,” the actress revealed to MTV News. The flick, whose name was recently changed from “The Night Watchman” (presumably to avoid confusion with Zack Snyder’s upcoming “Watchmen”), recently began filming with a strong supporting cast that includes Chris Evans (”The Fantastic Four”), Hugh Laurie (”House”), Terry Crews (”Norbit”) and rapper/actor Common. The next in a long line of “Dark Keanu” roles (think “Constantine” and “The Gift”), the flick casts the “Matrix” star as a bottle-abusing cop whose grief for his wife is compounded when he learns that a friend (Whitaker) has turned against him…

… Harris does remember one thing about the script: It will take Reeves and red-hot Oscar winner Whitaker to some very shadowy places. “Yeah, it’s really dark,” said Harris, adding that she’ll begin filming this summer. “It’s a really great movie, though, and I’m really excited to be part of it.”

As Peopleenespanol.com confirmed it weeks ago, the actress Martha Higareda will less make her debut in Hollywood nothing than of the hand of Keanu Reeves. The Mexican will carry out next to American actor Night Watch, a film of David director Yesterday, on a police that discovers a case of corruption in its same department and that will do the impossible thing to bring to light.  Night Watch begins the 4th of June.

Point Break Sequel

… The new movie will be set in Southeast Asia and uncover the fate of the surfers’ leader Bodhi (played in the original by Patrick Swayze) who was supposedly (spoiler alert) killed by a giant wave at the end of the first film. The sequel will not feature the return of FBI Special Agent John ‘Johnny’ Utah (who was played by Keanu Reeves in the original), but will instead follow a surfer-turned-SEAL who is on the trail of “a criminal gang.” They hope to cast “a young male action star at the same stage in his career as Keanu (Reeves) was.”

Point Break 2

Legendary surf film Point Break will have an Asian-based sequel, 16 years after it was a surprise Hollywood success.  The film will be written and directed by Peter Iliff, who wrote the first movie, and answers film fans’ main question about the 1992 hit: Did Bodhi die?  The original film starred Keanu Reeves as an undercover FBI agent who infiltrated a surfing gang, headed by Patrick Swayze as Bodhi, suspected of committing armed robberies.  The film’s climax was a confrontation between Reeves’ character and the "spiritual leader" of the thrill-seeking group, which saw Bodhi escaping custody to surf a giant "killer" wave at Torquay’s Bells Beach.  In reality, the scenes were shot in the US.  Singaporean company RGM Entertainment – linked to local talent agency RGM Associates who look after Cate Blanchett – will finance the film.  "We are extremely excited about making the sequel to a movie that was well received and highly regarded by audiences all around the world," said chief executive Devesh Chetty.  Point Break 2 revolves around an ex-professional surfer who enlists in the US Navy and is recruited to track down a criminal gang based in South-East Asia.  A statement from the company said they were "currently in discussions" with members of the original cast of Point Break in the hope they will revive their roles.

Night Watch news

Common is diving head first into the film industry, signing on to star in one major film and in talks for another.

According to Reuters, the Chicago rapper has signed on to play opposite Morgan Freeman and Angelina Jolie in a fantasy film called "Wanted," and is in negotiations for a drama called "The Night Watchman" where he’d join actors Keanu Reeves and Forest Whitaker…

… If Common gets the part in "Night Watchman," he will play the part of Coats, a Belize heroin dealer who poses as an undercover police officer. It is based on an original idea by James Ellroy and centers on a disgraced cop who discovers corruption inside the police department and sets out on a mission to redeem himself.

Hellblazer

ANDY DIGGLE IN ‘HELLBLAZER’ HEAVEN
The British writer burns through questions about his kinship with John Constantine and throws in an update on the ‘Losers’ film

… Did you see the “Constantine” movie? I want to know what you thought of Keanu Reeves’ interpretation of the character.

ANDY DIGGLE: Controversially, I didn’t object on principle to the idea of making Constantine an American. After all, there’s more to a character than mere hair color and nationality. And while there’s obviously a lot wrong with the movie—don’t get me started on the Holy Shotgun!—it had a cool visual style, and I appreciated some of the weirder elements, such as entering hell by staring into the eyes of a cat. And I think Keanu Reeves deserves a bit of kudos for keeping Constantine a nasty, embittered old cynic, when the “Hollywood thing to do” would have been to make him much more noble and heroic. So all in all, I’d call it a heroic failure. Okay, it was no “Batman Begins.” But at least it wasn’t “Catwoman,” y’know? …

THE MATRIX has been named the best science-fiction movie or TV show of the past 25 years in a new US magazine poll. The 1999 Keanu Reeves film, which spawned two blockbuster sequels, beat TV series Battlestar Galactica and Blade Runner to claim the top spot on the Entertainment Weekly list.  Cult TV hit The X-Files, Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan, Terry Gilliam’s bizarre Brazil and E.T. also make the top 10.

The top 10 is:

  1. The Matrix

  2. Battlestar Gallactica (TV)
  3. Blade Runner
  4. The X-Files (TV)
  5. Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan
  6. Brazil
  7. E.T.
  8. Star Trek: The Next Generation (TV)
  9. Aliens
10. The Thing

Sandra Bullock isn’t about to stand by and let a misguided fan try to kill her husband.

The "Premonition" star filed a request for a restraining order Tuesday, May 1 against Marcia Valentine, who tried to run over the actress’ husband, "Monster Garage" host Jesse James, last month, reports TMZ.com.
The court documents describe the April 22 incident thusly, "Defendant made several attempts to run plaintiff’s husband over with her car near Plaintiffs’ residence while waiving [sic] to Plaintiff Bullock. Defendant had previously trespassed on Plaintiffs’ peroperty on several occasions, and threw numerous signs and other objects over their gate."
At the time, Bullock and James’ 10-year-old son, Jesse Jr., witnessed the attack. Valentine got away, but was later picked up based on James’ description of her and her car. She made the $25,000 bail and is due in court on May 22.
The request is seeking to keep Valentine away from Bullock, James and his three sons: Sunny, 3, Jesse Jr. and Chandler, 12. If granted, the fan will have to stay at least 500 yards away from their home, any workplace/TV or movie set, the children’s school or child care facility and their vehicles.
Bullock’s most recent film credits include "Crash," "Miss Congeniality 2," "The Lake House," "Infamous" and "Premonition." She next plans to produce and star in "All About Steve," slated to begin shooting this summer.

Laurie joins Night Watch aka The Night Watchman

HughLaurie.jpgThe Night Watchman has had a title change as it greets a new cast member, the non-hobbling Hugh Laurie.
Apparently the title change means that it clashes with another Fox Searchlight release, that of the very good Russian film Night Watch (Filmstalker review). Strange that they should do this, but then there are a few years between them so that’s not so bad. If you haven’t caught up by now it means that The Night Watchman becomes Night Watch.
Most interesting though is the addition of Hugh Laurie from House fame. He will join the cast that already includes Keanu Reeves, Forest Whitaker and Chris Evans. With direction from David Ayer, this is looking like quite a strong film.
The story comes from Variety through Rope of Silicon.
As said before, the plot is about Reeves character who starts drinking heavily after his wife dies. He’s then implicated in a murder of a fellow officer and goes up against his old mentor played by Whitaker. Evans plays the cop engaged to investigate the murder and track down the killer.
It sounds a good choice for Hugh Laurie as he’ll no doubt struggle to break off the House character in the US.
